The Story Behind the Stencils
Share
My henna journey began at age 4, watching my mother apply designs she learned in Pakistan. I couldn't resist those henna cones hidden in our freezer, secretly creating doodles that my preschool teachers frequently complained about!
By 9, I was charging classmates R2 from their tuck shop money for matching henna designs. At 12, I set up my first stall at our local Saturday market, eagerly anticipating each weekend to share my art and connect with customers.
After school, my skills and reputation grew rapidly. When I later moved to Johannesburg for a corporate career, I tried leaving henna behind—but quickly found myself feeling empty. One customer request was all it took to reignite my passion.
For me, henna isn't just decoration—it transforms celebrations. It makes weddings feel authentic and signals the true beginning of Eid or Diwali festivities. Most importantly, it creates a moment of calm amid the preparations.
I share a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported my journey and made my art what it is today. To every client who has chosen me, appreciated my work, and shared in these special moments—you have been the true inspiration behind everything I create. Your trust and support have allowed me to turn my passion into something I can now share more widely through these stencils.
These stencils are born from fifteen years of passion and artistry. I created them to share my most popular designs with those who might not be able to book me in person or are looking for an affordable option. They bring the joy and tradition of mendhi right into your home, carrying the same love I pour into every hand-drawn application.
